Sarasota deputies quietly released the 8-foot tall, 100-pound figure on Thursday.

Man decapitated during fight over steaks

Sarasota, Florida - Sarasota Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of decapitating another man during a fight Tuesday morning.

It happened in some woods near the 3100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The area is the site of a camp where several homeless people have been living.

A witness called 911 to report that he saw a man decapitate one of his fellow campers.

The witness told detectives that 48-year-old Ricky Leer and the murder victim were grilling steaks when the victim accidentally knocked over the grill.

Fla. man tried to bite deputy after K-9 bites him

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (AP) - A 27-year-old man is behind bars after authorities say he tried to bite a deputy after he was bit by a K-9 dog.

Christopher Wilson was arrested on multiple charges after authorities say he tried to break into the home of a person he was banned from seeing on Thursday. Manatee County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home and set their dog loose to catch Wilson after he refused to cooperate.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports the dog bit Wilson. Authorities say he tried to bite one deputy and kicked another.

Lego Sculpture to Remain "In Custody"

The Lego® sculpture that was discovered at Siesta Key beach early Tuesday morning will continue to be held by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Property Section in accordance with Florida Statute 705.103(2)(b).

The Sheriff's Office is obligated to take and retain custody of the sculpture for a period of 90 days, just like all other lost and found property under this statute. During this time, a determination will be made as to who has the best legal claim to it.

Giant Lego Man washes ashore in Sarasota

Siesta Key, Florida -- Maybe he was coming to visit the newly opened Legoland Florida.

Beachcombers on Sarasota's Siesta Key made a rather unusual find Tuesday morning, after a giant Lego Man washed ashore.
