World Animal Day celebration at Big Cat Habitat

Sarasota, Florida -- Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary will host a free educational and fun World Animal Day celebration on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 3 to 7 p.m. in partnership with many local animal welfare organizations. 

The celebration includes educational presentations by experts on exotic and endangered animals, exhibits by many animal welfare organizations, activities for children, and demonstrations highlighting animals’ remarkable capabilities.

Sarasota, Florida -- They are tiny and adorable; we're talking sea turtle hatchlings. And soon the public will be able to see more closely the hatchlings that are being treated at Mote Marine Laboratory.

Mote is about to unveil a new hatchling admissions area. A generous donation from the Kukanza family of Sarasota helped make the new addition to the aquarium possible.

Sea Lions coming to Mote

Sarasota, Florida -- Goodbye penguins-hello sea lions. That's what's happening at Mote Marine Laboratory.

A special penguin exhibit just concluded at the Aquarium there and now the facility is prepping for one featuring sea lions.

Sea Lions: On the Water's Edge will open Dec. 1 and remain through Spring 2013.

The limited engagement exhibit will feature California and Patagonian sea lions.

Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctury to hold fundraiser

Sarasota, Fla. -- Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary announced it will hold its annual Animal Extravaganza fundraiser for six weekends from Saturday, Jan. 21, through, Feb. 26.

In January, gates will open at 12:30 p.m. with entertaining, educational two-hour animal demonstrations at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. 

In February, an evening performance will be added on Saturdays with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. and the demonstration starting at 5:30 p.m.
