Sarasota to add 5 electric charging stations

 

Sarasota, Florida -- Starting Thursday, Aug. 16, residents will have access to five electric vehicle charging stations at three locations throughout the city.

Crews will begin by installing one station in the southwest corner of the City Hall parking lot, 1565 First Street, at 11 a.m.  The other four will be installed shortly afterward.

The five charging stations will be located in three parking lots:

City celebrates Sumter Boulevard ribbon cutting

The North Port City Commission celebrated a ribbon cutting of Sumter Boulevard on Thursday, Aug. 2 marking the end of the roadway construction from Hansard Avenue to Morandi Avenue.

The project, constructed by AJAX Paving Industries, cost a little over $2.2 million and took about a year to complete.

Parking Citation Amnesty Program begins next week

Sarasota, Florida -- Drivers with a past due parking ticket will have a one-time only opportunity to pay their citation and have the late fee waived by the City of Sarasota.

The Parking Citation Amnesty program will run Wednesday, Aug. 1 – Sunday, Sept. 30, prior to a new parking ticket collection policy taking effect.  Anyone with a City of Sarasota parking ticket at least 90 days past due is eligible for the amnesty program.

Beach Road still suffering from Debby damage

Siesta Key, Florida -- A famous street on Siesta Key is still a mess after Tropical Storm Debby.

Sources say the county has asked the state for a permit to repair the damage created by a large sinkhole wash out on Beach Road.

Neighbors tell 10 News they are concerned they won't be able to get to their homes.

Water main break closes portion of Worcester Road

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County says Worcester Road has been closed in the 4000 block south of Bee Ridge Road due to a water main break.

Sarasota County crews are repairing the leak and expect to reopen the road this evening.
