SCAT bus system returns to regular schedule

UPDATE - 3:07 p.m., July 13, 2011: Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) has returned to regular service this afternoon after experiencing some route delays since Tuesday, July 12, as a result of mechanical needs. All 46 fixed-route buses needed for regular service are now operating. Full bus service has been restored.

Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) may experience bus delays over the next 12 hours as a result of  mechanical needs.

SCAT typically requires 46 fixed-route buses for a normal service day. SCAT will start Wednesday, July 13, with 37 buses but, to compensate, will add six new buses during the course of the day. Other SCAT buses are undergoing maintenance to be reintroduced to the fleet as soon as possible.

In order to minimize the impact to customers, SCAT will temporarily adjust lower-ridership routes by increasing wait time and maintaining normal wait time for the higher-ridership routes.
