Road closures for Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11

Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee will host the annual Veterans Day parade on Monday, November 11, 2013 beginning at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue in downtown Sarasota.  There will be several vehicle tow away zones and a street closure notices will be in effect for the following times:

Downtown Sarasota Intersection To Close For Improvements

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota motorists will need to find an alternate route while the intersection at Main Street and Palm Avenue are temporarily closed from September 9-25 for construction.

Crews will be installing brick paver crosswalks at the intersection. Click here to view a map of the suggested detour route.

City officials say the pavers will make downtown Sarasota more attractive and inviting for visitors.

County considers speed reduction on Midnight Pass Road

Sarasota, Florida - Should the speed limit be reduced on Midnight Pass Road?

Sarasota County Commissioners are considering that.

They're looking at reducing the speed on Midnight Pass Road between Vista Hermosa Circle and Sanderling Road from 40 to 35 miles per hour. If that proposal passes, it could mean that Low Speed Vehicles (LSV) could operate on the street.

Sarasota Police Department recognizes national Stop on Red week

Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota Police Department will observe National Stop on Red Week, which runs from August 4 to 10. 

Initiated by the Federal Highway Administration, National Stop on Red Week is dedicated to educating Americans about the dangers of running red lights and to reducing the number and severity of traffic citations and crashes.

Bee Ridge Road reopens after repairs to water main break

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County has reopened Bee Ridge Road in all directions after closing it earlier today to repair a water main break that occurred at the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Sarasota Golf Club Boulevard.

A boil water advisory remains in effect for approximately 100 residential and business customers on the north side of Bee Ridge Road at Aberdeen Drive, Walden Pond Drive, Rollins Pond Way, Kosten Way and Hagen Lane.

All lanes of Clark Road reopen after reclaimed water main break

Sarasota, Florida -- All lanes of Clark Road have now reopened after a reclaimed water main break occurred Tuesday afternoon. Repairs to the water main are complete, according to Sarasota County Utilities.

The break was caused by a directional bore done by a contractor. At the request of the county, DeJonge Excavating Contractors Inc. made the repairs.

Portion of Central Sarasota Parkway closes to replace sewer main

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County Utilities staff will close a portion of Central Sarasota Parkway beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, July 8, to replace a failing 18-inch sewer main.

To repair the main, Utilities staff will close the road across all lanes of Central Sarasota Parkway at Stoneybrook Boulevard, near the entrance of Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club. Repairs are expected to take no longer than two weeks.
