Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota County Commission has officially proclaimed March 14 as Sarasota County Libraries Big League Reader Day at Ed Smith Stadium.

For the third consecutive year, Sarasota County libraries and the Baltimore Orioles have teamed up to promote reading through the Orioles Big League Reader program.

Children who read three or more books in the month of February will receive a free ticket to the Wednesday, March 14, game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

North Port, Florida -- North Port residents are invited to relax and unwind at the Morgan Family Community Center on Wednesday evenings.

The community is invited to participate in an all-level's yoga class at the Morgan Center with Angela Caine. Angela has been practicing yoga for over 10 years, received her yoga teacher certification at Yogi Hari's Ashram in Miramar, Florida, and is registered with the Yoga Alliance.

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County libraries and the Baltimore Orioles team up to promote reading through the Orioles Big League Reader program.

Kids who sign up and read three or more books during February receive a grandstand ticket to the Thursday, March 14, game between the Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays at Ed Smith Stadium.

The Baltimore Orioles spring training season begins at Ed Smith Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 23, when the Orioles take on the Minnesota Twins at 1:05 p.m.

Mote Manatees predict Ravens to win Super Bowl

Sarasota, Florida -- We all have our favorites and two Mote Manatees predict the Baltimore Ravens to win Sunday's Super Bowl.

Hugh and Buffet both selected the Ravens during a training session on Friday, by swimming up to a target marked with the Ravens' team logo, instead of the one with the 49ers' logo.

Buffet has selected the correct team every year for the past five years. Hugh has picked correctly three out of five times.

Sarasota, Florida -- Nothing like a morning walk on the beach-right? Want some company? Well, the county's popular beach walks are back.

Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 6, the county's Sunrise Beach Walks return to Siesta Beach and Nokomis Beach. The walks are a great way to stay in shape, enjoy time with friends, and meet new people.

For a one-time $1 registration fee, you can participate every Wednesday in February and March. And if you complete four beach walks, you can walk away with a free T-shirt.

Senior athletes from across the state will descend on the gulf coast Feb. 19 - 24 to compete in the 24th Annual Gulf Coast Senior Games.

The Gulf Coast Senior Games are held each year to promote health and wellness and to enhance the quality of life for Sarasota and Manatee County's mature population.

Events offered this year include archery, basketball shooting, track and field, bocce, bowling, cribbage, table tennis, cycling, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, racquetball, running, shuffleboard, swimming and tennis.
