Payne Park Tennis Center to offer sale price on annual pass

Sarasota, Florida --Sarasota County Parks and Recreation's Payne Park Tennis Center, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota, will be temporarily offering its popular annual pass for a discounted rate to new customers for a limited time, Sept. 1 - Oct. 15. The discounted pass can be purchased at the Payne Park Tennis Center Pro Shop.

ASL Classes held in Sarasota

ASL Classes held in Sarasota

Venice, Florida -- The Community for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will hold ASL Classes on Tuesdays for 10 weeks. 

These classes will teach participants how to communicate with their deaf child, spouse, relative or friend. 

The classes are ope to all ages as well as families, teenager, college students and adults. 

The classes will take place at the Human Service Center at 1750 17th Street Building J in Sarasota. 

ASL II Classes will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and ASL I Classes will be held from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Co-ed Softball Fall League registration is taking place August 1 through September 24 at the George Mullen Activity Center and Men's Basketball Fall League registration is August 1 through September 23 at the Morgan Family Community Center.

Register in person or mail-in registrations are accepted.

Venice, Florida -- Every Friday, Charlotte County Community Services presents Friday Night Skate for children in grades K-5. 

Children are able to enjoy an evening of music, games and fun with friends. All skaters must bring their own skates and concessions are available for purchase. 

Admission is $3. 

The event is held at Tringali Recreation Center, 3460 North Access Road in Englewood from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9.

Sarasota, Florida -- The ‘Stop the Violence’ Celebrity Basketball Fundraiser will be played Friday, July 19 with Sarasota native and Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields and Bradenton native and Denver Broncos cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

“We do our best to convey to our youth that violence is not the path for them to reach their full potential,” said Jerry Fogle, RLTCC Manager.  “We’re very excited to partner with Sam, Dominique and Booker High School for this fundraiser that also will help raise community awareness about the need to stop the violence.”

Rising stars basketball clinic

Rising stars basketball clinic

North Port, Florida - Kids will learn basketball fundamentals, shooting and defensive drills at these clinics taught by certified basketball instructor and high school coach, Seth Christy.

Clinics will be held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday until August 22 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Prizes and awards will be available for participants. Located at the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 West Price Boulevard. Open to children in grades kindergarten – 5th grade.
