County Commission approves $1.3 million bathroom project

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County Commissioners approved a $1.3 million bathroom project for South Lido Beach Park. 

The new facility will hold 11 bathrooms including a family restroom,and be low maintenance using a composite deck, natural lighting and ventilation. The building will be 2,858 square feet and be elevated 14 feet.

Two similar bathroom projects have been completed at Caspersen and Manasota Beach.

City Commission agrees on way fix North Port's roads

North Port, Florida -- The North Port City Commission voted 4-0 to use a capital assessment to secure a bond that will pay for the rehabilitation of 266 miles of roadways in the next three years.

In November, nearly 60 percent of the voters approved a referendum authorizing the City to obtain a $46 million bond to upgrade 266 miles of substandard roads in the City.

New restrooms slated for North Jetty Beach Park

Sarasota, Florida -- When it's time to go - we all like nice ones; and new restrooms are on the way for North Jetty Beach Park.

Sarasota County Commissioners approved the $1.4 million construction project this week.

The existing 30-year-old restroom building will be replaced with a new facility that will almost double the number of fixtures and include two family restrooms. A family-friendly food concession is also part of the plan, as well as parking lot improvements.

Sarasota, Florida -- Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent is inviting the public to observe the logic and accuracy testing of the county’s voting and tabulating equipment to be used in the March 12, 2013 City of Sarasota Regular and Town of Longboat Key General Elections.

The testing is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 9 a.m., in the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, Sarasota County Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota.
