Sarasota City Commission agenda previews to be televised today

Sarasota, FL - Televised previews of City Commission agendas as well as a televised recap of actions taken by the City Commission will air beginning today, provided by the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk.

According to the city's website, the ‘Commission Report’ will be televised approximately five minutes prior to the start of the 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. sessions on Access Sarasota, the government access channel.

The ‘Wrap Up Report’ will be televised the following day and will be posted on the City’s homepage www.sarasotagov.com “This will be an added service we will be providing for the public,” said City Auditor and Clerk Pamela Nadalini.

Candidate qualifying for City Commission seats begins next week

Sarasota, FL -- For anyone interested in being a part of the City Commission, the qualifying period is quickly approaching.

The candidate qualifying period for the City Commission elections for the three district seats is next week, starting at noon on Jan. 3 through noon Jan. 7. The qualifying period is two weeks earlier than previous elections due to changes made by the City Commission to comply with Florida election law.

Three district races are being held. Candidates, including those who pre-qualified, must qualify during the time frame next week in order to have their name placed on the ballot on Tuesday, March 8, 2011.
