Dog houses to benefit Southeastern Guide Dogs

Dog houses to benefit Southeastern Guide Dogs

Sarasota, FL- If you have been in downtown Sarasota lately, you may have noticed some very special dog houses on display.  These pup palaces are being shown at Southeastern Guide Dogs' Discovery Center, Sarasota Herald-Tribune's lobby and at the downtown branch of BB&T in anticipation of Barkitecture, a fundraiser for Southeastern Guide Dogs.

"We wanted to give people a chance to see the amazing work that the builders did on these houses, they really have gone above and beyond this year to make the houses special" stated Stacey Price, Special Events Coordinator for Southeastern.

Cat shot 8 times with BBs

Siesta Key, Florida -- Siesta Key resident George Wagner got quite a shock when he greeted his pet cat, Tigger, on Wednesday morning - she was bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says the cat had been shot with 8 BBs - one in the head, one under the chin, 2 BB pellets lodged in the right side of her face, two lodged in the neck, one in her mid-back, and another in her abdomen.

Wagner is anxious to discover who committed such a violent crime against his cat, who went outside on Tuesday night as usual but returned home to 5100 Block Higel Avenue the next morning in very bad shape.
