Woman becomes Video Voyeruism target in Target | News
A woman shopping at a Target in Sarasota on Sunday afternoon confronted a man who tried to take video under her skirt and he fled. Police caught the suspect.
And the sheriff's office says there might be other victims.
"I am in shock - my kids are right there," said the mother of two who did not want to be named.
At first, she thought the man, Aaron Stahl, was just a stranger trying to help her.
"Momma doesn't know where the Super Glue is and this guy out of the blue says it's in the back aisle," she said while describing what took place in the store.
Stahl showed up in that aisle, got too close, bumped into her cart, and then was on the ground behind her. The woman was shocked at what happened next.
"As soon as I saw his under my skirt I raised my voice very loud to make a scene, 'Excuse me what are you doing?'"
Her response was a good one according the law enforcement authorities.
"She was sharp to realize what happened so quickly she confronted him and they struggled in the aisle," said Wendy Rose, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
The man appeared to not know what to do next.
"He stared at me in the eyes - didn't say anything. I said, 'You're disgusting, pervert.' Finally, he said, 'I dropped my phone,'" the woman said.
Then Stahl made a run for it.
The woman's reaction had drawn attention from others in the store and another customer chased Stahl as he ran out of the store, and got his license plate in the parking lot. That information helped police nab the suspect.
"I am just so thankful to that man. I don't know his name," the victim said.
She does know that her children learned something.
"As much as I was violated, I will always try to make a positive out of negative. It was an opportunity to teach them there are sick people in this world," she said. "To teach my children about respecting yourself."
Stahl, 35, of Venice, was charged with one count of video voyeurism.
