Training sessions offered for public officials

Sarasota, Florida -- The ManaSota League of Cities in conjunction with the Florida League of Cities will host free training sessions for public officials on Florida public records and meetings laws.

The courses will focus on the requirements for compliance with Public Records and Sunshine Law in the State of Florida.  The information is deemed essential for newly elected or appointed public officials.  The training sessions also will be an excellent refresher for officials who are currently serving, providing updated information on Florida's public records and sunshine laws. 

Commissioners, Council Members, Advisory Board Members, City Managers, Clerks, Administrative Staff Members, and Volunteers are all encouraged to attend. 

The sessions offered will be:

  • Thursday, October 17 - For elected officials
  • Friday, October 18 - For advisory board members, administration, advisory board liaisons and volunteers

The workshops will last from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, 2013, in the Commission Chambers at Sarasota City Hall, 1565 First Street.
