2013 Regional Science Fair winners presentation coming up

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota County’s most promising young scientists, engineers, and inventors will be honored with monetary awards, other prizes, and – for two top-ranked high school students – a chance to compete on the international stage at the Regional Science, Engineering and Technology Fair Awards on April 30.  The annual awards event will be held at Riverview High School, 1 Ram Way, Sarasota with presentations starting at 6:00 p.m.

Cash awards and special prizes for outstanding achievement will also be presented.  The regional fair’s two overall winners will go on to represent Sarasota County next month at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona.

On May 12, the two overall winners of the regional fair will fly to Phoenix to compete internationally.  Out-of-Door Academy’s Brittany Wenger and Cardinal Mooney’s Courtney Astore will represent the county at the five-day Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF).  This marks a third trip for Wenger, who attended the Intel ISEF in Pittsburgh last year and won first place in her category.  All expenses for travel, entry fees, and chaperone to participate in the Intel ISEF are paid for by private donors through Education Foundation of Sarasota County.
