Park restaurant closes for summer

Venice, Florida -- Sarasota County Parks and Recreation officials says the Snook Haven Restaurant in Venice has closed for the summer. However, they say they expect the restaurant to reopen in the fall with new management.

"We were able to work with the previous concessionaire and keep the restaurant open through the busy season, which was vital to supporting our tourism industry," Carolyn Brown, General Manager, Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, said in a release. "During the off-season summer months, we will host some events with the Friends of Sarasota County Parks at Snook Haven and perform some general maintenance on the restaurant to get it ready to reopen in time for the fall."

The county says Snook Haven Park, a popular local and tourist destination that features canoe and kayak access to the Myakka River, will remain open.

Sarasota County Parks and Recreation and the county Procurement Office expect to have a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking a new concessions vendor issued by the end of the month.
