Boot Camp at Warm Mineral Springs

North Port, Florida -- Looking to step up your workout routine? The Warm Mineral Springs is holding boot camps for one week in July, August and September to help you out!

Each camp takes participants through five intense morning training sessions from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. with certified trainer Carla Peralta.

Cost is $75 per camp which includes all equipment and free swimming afterwards in the Springs' Fountain of Youth.

The Sarasota County Health Department's Health In Motion Mobile Medical Unit staff will provide free and low-cost health services at 14 sites around the county during July.

The services offered at the established sites include diabetes education and screening, blood pressure tests, pregnancy testing, HIV and tuberculosis testing, adult immunizations, and health education. The staff also assists individuals who lack medical insurance and do not have a health care provider to find a medical home for ongoing health care.

Community-partnership allows for expansion of primary care services to Sarasota

Sarasota, Florida -- Through a community partnership, primary care services will be expanded to low-income and uninsured people in north Sarasota County through a New Access Point grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human ServicesHealth Resources and Services Administration.

The grant, for $595,833 per year through 2016, will help provide for the long-term sustainability of Sarasota County's health care safety net.

Bartow, Florida -- The Florida Department of Health is advising private well owners affected by flood waters to take precautions against disease-causing organisms that may make their water unsafe to drink.

UPDATE: Precautionary boil water advisory lifted in Beneva Road area

Sarasota, Florida -- UPDATE: Sarasota County has lifted the precautionary boil water notice for the 420 residents affected by the broken water main on section of Beneva Road Sunday.

Officials say bacteriological testing shows water is safe to drink.

The section of Beneva Road from Beneva Road from Sarasota Square Boulevard to U.S. 41 remains closed for repairs while crews work to repair the water main. The roadway is expected to reopen late Thursday, June 14. In the meantime, traffic is being routed south on Sarasota Square Boulevard.

Sarasota, Florida -- The Hearing Loss Association of Sarasota is once again hosting its' highly popular Summer Rap Sessions that allow anyone in the community to get helpful feedback on their individual questions and concerns about hearing loss.

These sessions are designed to offer invaluable guidance and support from experienced mentors and provide effective ways in which one can significantly improve their hearing and listening skills. These workshops are open to the community.
