Sarasota, Florida --Composer Alan Gershwin will be in Sarasota for the Florida premiere of his “Gettysburg Anthem,” a musical celebration of the Gettysburg Address.

The premiere is a highlight of "Celebrating America," Gloria Musicae's Independence Day concert paying tribute to American composers and to the American spirit, July 4, 4 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 104 S. Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota.

Venice, Florida -- Venice Theatre invites the community to attend Back to the Beach:  Surf’s Up!, a fast-paced musical romp for anyone who loves classic beach films! 

This summer’s theatre camp students and teachers are proud to present another original play by Ronald Krine Myroup, Venice Theatre’s playwright-in-residence. The production will feature 45 “TheatreFest” students, in 2nd through 12th grades and will be performed on the theatre’s MainStage.

Town schedules hurricane awareness meeting

Longboat Key, Florida - It's hurricane season and the Town of Longboat Key wants you to be prepared. The town is hosting an informational meeting where you can learn how to protect yourself, your family, your pets, and your property.

The meeting takes place on June 20, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., in the town hall commission chambers.

During the session you'll hear what town staff and local emergency managers have to say about hurricane season and flood awareness.

Refreshments will be provided.
