STRIDER World Championships return to Sarasota BMX October 11-13

Sarasota County, Florida -- Sarasota County's BMX Track, 1590 North Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, will host the 2013 STRIDER World Championships, Oct. 11-13, for racers age 2-5 from around the world.

The weekend-long event will kick-off Friday, Oct. 11, with registration, followed by opening ceremonies at 5 p.m., and then STRIDER riders taking a few qualifying practice runs around the track to perfect their skills for Saturday's big race. Spectator admission and parking for the event are free. Practice session is $10, and race registration is $25.

After a full day of riding, racing, and fun activities on Saturday, families and kids will love the low-key day on Sunday as parents and grandparents get one more chance to cheer for their toddlers at the "STRIDERS in the Surf" beach parade on Lido Beach.

STRIDER bikes have no pedals, allowing toddlers as young as 18 months old to balance and ride on two wheels without the use of tricycles or training wheels.

"When toddlers learn to ride on a Strider bike, the experience opens up a whole new world of balance, self-confidence, motor skills, teamwork and friendly competition," said Ryan McFarland, founder and CEO of Strider Sports International. "These children are having a blast and learning valuable life lessons every step of the way."
