Hazardous Waste Collection Event on March 23 | Events
North Port, Florida-- Do you have old paint, unused pesticides or stale gasoline sitting around your house? Now is the time to get rid of all your household hazardous waste.
The City of North Port and Sarasota County Hazardous Waste Management are hosting a community hazardous waste collection event from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 23rd in the parking lot at City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard.
This event is also for qualifying businesses. Hazardous waste from businesses that generate small quantities will be accepted as long as the businesses pre-register by calling (813) 319-3429.
Types of items accepted include: pool chemicals, paint, automotive products, pesticides, paint thinners and solvents, aerosol cans, cleaners, household fire extinguishers, BBQ size propane cylinders, and fluorescent bulbs.
Items not accepted at this event include: garbage, appliances, tires, yard waste, ammunition, fireworks, flares, radioactive materials, and non-propane cylind ers.
Electronics and appliances can be accepted with a scheduled bulk collection by calling (941) 240-8050.
The hazardous waste collection event is for North Port residents and qualifying businesses only. Proof of residency for household waste may be requested before any waste is accepted.
