Sarasota, Florida -- On Monday, April 30, Wilkinson Elementary students and staff joined parents and community members to participate in Jump Rope for Heart, an activity designed to raise awareness of heart health and raise funds for the American Heart Association.

The two sessions were held in the outdoor physical education area of the campus; one from 9 - 10:30 a.m., for students in grades K-two; and 1 - 2:30 p.m. for students in grades 3 - 5.

Several stations will be set up for students to participate in various activities, including a nutritional snack station, a paramedic station, heart rate activities, jump rope contests, Hula Hoop contests, an obstacle course and more, complete with music and prizes.

Assistant Principal Melodie Deeds said, “Exercise is key to a healthy lifestyle. Participating in Jump Rope for Heart is a great opportunity for our students, families and staff to raise awareness about the benefits of exercise in our lives.”
