Pier destination faces outcry over poisoned pigeons

Venice, FL - Sharky's on the Pier has attracted some unwanted attention from protesters this week, who are outraged that the popular restaurant and bar decided to poison local pigeons using a toxic deterrent to keep the birds away from their business. Since the owners consider the pigeons a health risk to customers, and have received many complaints, they decided to use pest control to solve the problem.

On Monday, reports began surfacing that fishermen, guests, and beach-goers faced a disturbing scene of approximately 50 pigeons unexpectedly falling to their death shortly after the poison was distributed. So far, it doesn't appear that Sharky's ownership has violated any laws, since the poison was approved by the state's regulation agency and was only used after trying over non-lethal control options.
