Talking toddler helps inform voters

“We have created a fun and informative way to remind voters to learn where their polling locations are prior to election day. Political redistricting and the renumbering and consolidation of precincts have affected voters in Sarasota County and across the state,” Dent says.

'Gotta Luv It' doo-wop kicks off summer concert series

Venice, Florida -- On Saturday, June 16, the five "old school" musicians of the "Gotta Luv It Band" will return to the Venice Theatre's MainStage with "good clean fun for everyone" with their repertoire of doo-wop harmony classics.

The band features Joe Sardo on lead vocals and guitar, Bob Stout on rhythm guitar, Russ Bracco on drums, Joel Shindler on bass and newcomer John Swaiko on saxophone.

2012 marks the 17th anniversary of the partnership between Venice Theatre and The Loveland Center. The collaboration between the two non-profit organizations gives adult students with developmental challenges the opportunity to learn life skills through theatre study.

Venice, Florida -- Famed singer and impressionist Paul Tanner who has performed for Pope John Paul II at Shea Stadium and sold out audiences in Las Vegas and on Broadway will bring his critically acclaimed one-man show to the Venice Community Center on June 9.

Tanner will perform renditions of songs by Elvis, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Roger Miller, Nat King Cole, Julio Iglesias, Willie Nelson and others for one night only.

Sarasota Opera receives 3rd NEA Grant for New Youth Opera Commission

Sarasota, Florida – National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that Sarasota Opera is one of 788 not-for-profit national, regional, state, and local organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant.  

Sarasota Opera is recommended for a $22,500 grant to support the technology design and creation for the world premiere of Little Nemo in Slumberland.
