'The Silent Majority' film viewing Oct. 17

North Port, Florida -- "The Silent Majority," a film highlighting the positive choices that teens and college students are making to stay drug-, alcohol- and tobacco-free, will debut locally Wednesday, Oct. 17.

The viewing will be held at 7 p.m. at the North Port Performing Arts Center, 6400 W. Price Blvd and admission is free and is open to the public.

Sarasota, Florida - An award-winning documentary filmmaker is focusing her camera on Mote Marine Laboratory this week.

Dena Seidel, from Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts, is working on a project about how oceans affect people's daily lives. Part of her documentary will include Mote's Beach Conditions Report and she is interviewing Julie Odenweller, an asthma sufferer, who uses the report to help her avoid beach areas with red tide.

Safety Harbor, Florida -- The City of Safety Harbor and the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce are once again producing the annual Harbor Sounds Music Festival at the Safety Harbor Marina on Friday Oct. 5, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 6, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.  

The 2-day event will feature live entertainment on the Budweiser True Music Stage, arts and crafts vendors, a children’s play area and plenty of food vendors.  

Admission and parking for the event are free.
