Venice Theatre Cabaret spells F-U-N with 'Spelling Bee'

Venice Theatre Cabaret spells F-U-N with 'Spelling Bee'

Venice, Florida -- Venice Theatre is transforming its Pinkerton Stage into a school gymnasium where The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will take place beginning Friday, August 12 and continuing through Sunday, August 28, 2011.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was nominated for six and won two Tony Awards in 2005. After its run on Broadway it quickly became an audience favorite around the country.

The show features six quirky yet lovable adolescents (guided by a few equally quirky adults) who celebrate what Time Magazine called “the joy of nerdiness”. Through catchy songs, flashbacks and entertaining dance numbers, the ensemble cast portrays the exciting competition of the Bee and also shares a bit about each speller’s unique life story.
