Siesta Key, FL - According to Pelican Press, Hyatt Siesta Key Beach Resort experienced a great example of community spirit last week, just in time for the holidays. Volunteers from the resort descended upon Turtle Beach Park "with one mission in mind ... clean up the trash!"

In partnership with Keep Sarasota Beautiful, the Hyatt has adopted the parkand and takes its job as caretaker seriously. The Resort Manager has prioritized giving back to the community and Joe Dindo, the Hyatt's engineering manager, rallies the troops for the clean-ups.

With all Gulf Coast beaches at risk for littering, forgotten items, wind-blown debris, and even after-effects from the BP oil spill this year, groups with similar initiatives could make a big difference in the environment of Bay area beaches.

The Hyatt group collected 11 bags of regular garbage weighing about 200 pounds, along with 11 bags of recyclable material weighing approximately 50 pounds. The same staff participates in four beach clean-ups a year.
