Sarasota County, Florida -- Achieva Credit Union and the Education Foundation of Sarasota County are taking their long-time collaboration into new territory next week during the second annual 36-Hour Giving Challenge.

The community-wide campaign will run from March 5-6  at all four Achieva branches in Sarasota County and seeks to raise at least $25,000 for Education Foundation programs benefiting local students, teachers and schools.

Achieva staff will assist customers, school district personnel, and others who wish to make secure online gifts of $25 to $1,000 for one or more of their favorite causes.  Achieva branches are located in Sarasota at 3000 Bee Ridge Road, 1852 Hillview Street #101, and 5881 Fruitville Road, and in Venice at 1485 E. Venice Avenue.

“Achieva is really helping us get into the spirit of the challenge, making giving easy and fun,” said Susan Scott, Education Foundation executive director.  “Many contributors will be making a gift online for the first time, and they will appreciate having someone they trust at hand to guide them through the simple steps.”

“The Education Foundation is an important part of the Sarasota community,” said Gary Regoli, Achieva CEO.  “Years ago, we began as a teacher’s credit union and we are delighted to partner with an organization that is committed to giving our local classrooms and educators the support they deserve.”

The 36-Hour Giving Challenge starts at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5 and continues without pause until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6.

To make a gift, donors will visit the www.GivingPartnerChallenge.org donation page which will go live during that time.  Donors select one or more of the participating organization, fill in a simple form, and make a secure online donation with a credit or debit card.  Donors may make gifts from any computer with internet access, including those at convenient Achieva branches.  Donors may also call the Education Foundation at 941-927-0965 before 7:00 p.m. March 6 to make a pledge that will be counted toward the final tally.

Last year’s challenge raised $2.4 million for 110 area organizations. Over 200 Southwest Florida nonprofits are participating this year, including agencies in human services, animal welfare, conservation, health, the arts, and education.  More than $645,000 in matching and incentive grants is available from Giving Challenge sponsors.

Gifts of $25, $50, $100 or more to the Education Foundation will help give Sarasota County’s students what they need to succeed, both in the classroom and in future careers.  Proceeds from the Giving Challenge will help pay for essential programs that serve the 41,400 children enrolled in all the district’s public schools, from Newtown to North Port.
