Mayor's Feed the Hungry Program Food Drive begins | Community Spirit
North Port, Florida -- The North Port community is invited to participate in the Mayor's Feed the Hungry Program's Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
The food drive will be held at North Port City Hall from Friday, Nov. 9 through Friday, Nov. 16. The public is being asked to donate non-perishable foods to help make sure no adult or child in North Port will go hungry this Thanksgiving.
About 385 North Port families have registered to participate in the program this year.
In addition to donating food, residents can purchase $10 gift cards from the Publix located at the corner of Price and Toledo Blade Boulevards. The gift cards will be used to purchase turkeys for the Mayor's Feed the Hungary Program.
Non-perishable items needed include: boxed mashed potatoes/macaroni and cheese; packets of gravy; canned yams/corn/peas/green beans; canned fruit; cranberry sauce; boxed pie crusts/canned pie filling; stuffing; rice; and more.
Donations can be dropped off between the ho urs of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, Nov. 9-16, 2012 at North Port City Hall, 4970 City Hall Blvd.
The Mayor's Feed the Hungry Program is an all volunteer organization. Volunteers are needed on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 to collect food at each of the food drives in North Port and Venice. To volunteer or for more information, call (941) 416-8443.
