SARASOTA, Florida- Kate Atkin, executive director of the Sarasota- Manatee Originals, announced the organization will be offering over $33,000 in discounted dining certificates beginning Thursday, June 7.

Atkin says the $50 certificates will sell for $35; 25 for $17.50; and $15 certificates will sell for $12.50.

 “This represents savings of up to 30 percent,” says Atkin in a release explaining that this initiative is offered four times per year. “This is one of the ways we thank loyal customers and inspire those who may not have tried one of our member restaurants to experience our variety of dining options at a reduced price.”

Venice Area Young Professionals mixer

Venice, Florida-- On Thursday, June 14, the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host a young professionals mixer. 

According to the Chamber, the event will last from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Bentleys Resort, 1660 Tamiami Trail.

Non-chamber members will be charged $10 to attend, and members will get in free.

SARASOTA, Florida -- The Florida Public Service Commission will meet Thursday, May 31 at 9:30 a.m in the Commission Chambers at City Hall to discuss it's decision regarding Florida Power and Light Company's request for a base rate increase.

FPL recently updated its projection for the total impact of customers' bills. The company took into account fuel prices and costs for ongoing construction of upgrades at nuclear facilities as well as other data adjustments.
