Sarasota welcomes first Walmart Neighborhood Market

Sarasota, Florida -- Wal-Mart will open the first Walmart Neighborhood Market in Sarasota on Sept. 19. 

The new store will be located at 3500 N. Tamiami Trail and offer residents a convenient place to purchase their groceries, including fresh produce. It will also feature Site-to-Store service that will allow customers to ship online orders from www.walmart.com for pickup at any Walmart store for free.

The store will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

North Port, Florida -- The City of North Port's next Lunch and Learn Workshop, titled "Cash is King", will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12.

The workshop will meet at the City Hall Meeting Room 244 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local business owners are invited to come to stay on top of new information and ideas to help improve their businesses. Lunch and Learn Workshops are scheduled each month (second Wednesdays) through November 2012 featuring timely topics designed to help business owners improve their competitive edge during the current economic climate.

Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office cited eight local convenience stores for selling alcohol to minors during an undercover operation on Aug. 9 and 10.

 

The following businesses were found to be in violation of selling alcohol to a person under 21 and the clerks were given a misdemeanor Notice to Appear:

Neighborhood meeting for proposed Walmart Supercenter store

Sarasota, Florida -- The neighborhood along the Ringling Boulevard area near downtown Sarasota is invited to a community meeting to discuss the proposed Supercenter Walmart store.

A smaller version of Walmart's Supercenter stores is proposed for the space where Publix once occupied in the Ringling Shopping Center.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Payne Park Auditorium, 2100 E. Laurel St. The meeting runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

New CVS open on Longboat Key

Longboat Key, Florida -- The redevelopment of the Avenue of the Flowers complex is moving forward with the opening of the new CVS. The new drug store opened on Sunday a month ahead of schedule.

The new store is about 2,000 square feet larger than the old location. According to a company spokesman, new features include: A double-lane drive through pharmacy, a healthy skincare center staffed by a beauty advisor, and an expanded food department that features fresh fruit.
