Sarasota County, Florida -- Sarasota County has released a new resource to help local businesses increase their bottom line and attract customers. The Sustainable Business Guide offers tangible first steps that local businesses, non-profits and other organizations can take to become more sustainable.

"Every business is interested in saving money," said Lee Hayes Byron, manager, Sarasota County Office of Sustainability. "Sustainable business practices can not only save your business money, they also improve our community's quality of life and improve workplace culture."

By following the steps outlined in the guide, businesses could see increased revenues by reducing operating costs, improving productivity, attracting new customers, increasing innovation and reducing liability. The guide is broken into categories and provides proven success stories of how local businesses have implemented sustainable practices and seen a positive impact on their business.

The Sarasota County Sustainable Business Guide is available at the Sarasota County Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd., as well as the offices of each of the local Chambers of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation. An electronic copy can also be downloaded from www.scgov.net/sustainability. Additional support is available from the Sarasota County Green Business Partnership for local businesses that would like to become more sustainable through recycling and other environmentally friendly processes.
