Sarasota Wildlife Art Festival and Wildlife Symposium

Sarasota, Florida -- The Rotary Club of Sarasota presents the first annual Sarasota Wildlife Art Festival and Wildlife Symposium the weekend of March 2 and 3.

The event features a juried exhibition of wildlife-inspired art and fine crafts by more than 25 painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers and other craftspeople. The works, which will be for sale, were juried by Ringling College of Art and Design instructors.

Sarasota, Florida -- The Glenridge Performing Arts Center will present Robin Spielberg on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m.

The Center credits Spielberg with being one of the most beloved pianist/composers with "hundreds of recordings sold featuring her compelling melodies and sensitive piano technique". She has 16 recordings to her credit and appears on over 40 compilations around the world.

Venice Theatre announces 64th Season

Venice, Florida -- Venice Theatre celebrated the start of its 64th season with a party for sponsors, donors, advertisers, patrons and volunteers Monday night.

The Theatre said just before the reception kicked off, the theatre's Board of Directors approved the docket of productions presented to them by the theatre's play selection committee and Artistic/Executive Director Murray Chase.

Sarasota wraps up final month of "One Book" Project in February

Sarasota, Florida -- There's one month left in the Sarasota County Library System's "One Book, One Community" project.

Each event will focus on the selected title, Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption, by Laura Hillenbrand.

Art variety showcased at The Longboat Key Education Center

Longboat Key, Florida -- The works of nearly two dozen artists will be on display at The Longboat Key Education Center. The exhibition features both local and national artists who work in a variety of media including photography and sculpture.

The show was put together by Vincent Taschetti, the founder and Creative Director of 'Salon des Artistes Sarasota'.

An opening night reception is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. The center is located at 5370 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The exhibition runs through Feb. 22.

The Great American Trailer Park Musical to open at Venice Theatre

 

Venice, FL-- The Great American Trailer Park Musical opens on Venice Theatre’s Pinkerton Stage Wednesday, February 6, 2013.

This “colorful and frisky” musical will run through Saturday, March 9, 2013. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Weeknight tickets are $25 for adults and $13 for students.
