Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota Concert Association concludes its 2013 Munchtime Musicales series with another free concert.

The Mike Markaverich Trio will perform Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at noon.

Venice, Florida -- From March 1 -17, Sarasota area residents can enjoy Aquatic Spectacular with Cirque Italia, an Italian entertainment company that showcases a dramatic performance of European style. 

The show features an array of worldly and talented performers executing unique aerial acts, contortionists, hand balancing and more.

Venice, Florida -- The Venice Symphony’s concerts on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 will provide a hearty serving of classical music favorites. 

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, Op. 92 expresses youthful joy in its dance-worthy score and a legendary cliffhanger of a slow movement. The Academic Festival Overture by Johannes Brahms brings to life old world academia in formal robes, mortarboards, tams and tassels in full orchestral color.

Venice, Florida -- Looking for something to do during Spring Break? Venice Theatre's Spring Break Camp is being offered March 11-15, 2013

The camp is open to children in grades K-8. Attendees will have activities that advance their acting, voice, and movement skills during the duration of the camp. The following sessions have openings:

The Longboat Key Center for the Arts is holding a community juried exhibition March 8 through March 29. It's open to all artists in the region and there are cash prizes.

The opening reception is March 9.

City hosts Viva Florida art contest for local students

North Port, Florida -- The City of North Port is hosting an art contest in relation to Viva Florida, the state's 500-year anniversary celebration taking place throughout 2013.

Hosted by the City of North Port's Art Advisory Board, the art contest is for students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade (including home schooled children).

Venice Theatre to hold open auditions Feb. 23-25

Venice, Florida -- Venice Theatre has announced it is seeking volunteer performers to audition for the final two productions of its 2012-2013 Season.

The Theatre says Director Murray Chase is casting 11 men and women of varying ages and types for the MainStage “dramedy” Second Samuel by Pamela Parker.

Auditions for Second Samuel are Sunday and Monday, Feb. 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. Actors will be asked to read from the script. Perusal copies are available by e-mailing rhondasudik@venicestage.com.
