Florida division of cultural affairs awards grant to The Perlman Music Program

Sarasota, Florida -- The Florida Department of State’s Division of Cultural Affairs awarded The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast (PMP/Suncoast) a $25,000 grant to fund a chamber music concert with renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman performing with Perlman Music Program (PMP) alumni. The concert, presented in partnership with The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, celebrates the 65th anniversary of the state of Israel and the 10th anniversary of the PMP Sarasota Winter Residency, November 6, 2013, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota.

Sarasota-based videography team wins the 34th Annual Telly Awards

Sarasota, Florida -- StarFruit Productions, a local Sarasota company known for their romantic beach wedding videos and stunning commercial videography, has been awarded this year’s 34th Annual Telly Award. Chosen from nearly 11,000 entries submitted worldwide, Starfruit Productions won for the video pieces Cirque Italia and Saltimbanco (The Chance).

Craft festival returns to St. Armands Circle

Sarasota, Florida - There's a little something for everyone at this weekend's Craft Festival on St. Armands Circle. The festival returns to Sarasota for the 12th year on June 8 and 9.

More than 100 artists will be selling their hand-crafted wares. It's a great place to shop for unique gifts with prices ranging from $3 to $3000.

The festival is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Class is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Since there is no advance enrollment guests are advised to come early and doors open at 9:45 p.m.
