Venice, Florida -- Ready to get your swerve on? The Jazz Club of Sarasota presents Jennifer Leigh and Her New Digs as part of the “Joy of Jazz” concert series, Sunday, April 10, 2 to 4 p.m., at Centennial Park, 401 W. Venice Ave., in downtown Venice.

Acclaimed for her potent, soul-stirring vocals, powerful reach, and cool, sophisticated style, Leigh has performed in the southeast region for the past 10 years. Her band, Jennifer and Her New Digs, plays an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, swing, pop, and rock and roll.

“We’re delighted to end this Joy of Jazz concert season with this dynamic group,” says Mike Dowd, a Jazz Club of Sarasota board member and organizer of the Joys of Jazz series. “Jennifer Leigh and Her New Digs can get a crowd up out of their seats and dancing. We encourage anyone who loves to listen to inspired sounds to put on their dancing shoes and get ready to get energized!”

The event, which is sponsored by Verizon and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice, is free and open to the public.

Food and beverages will be available for sale; audience members should bring lawn chairs and blankets. Coolers and picnic baskets are not allowed. This concert marks the third—and last—of the series for the season. For more information, call 941-366-1552.

The five-person band is comprised of band leader Jennifer Leigh on vocals; Bob Lunergan on drums; Don Bryn on keyboard and vocals; Ben Roberts on guitar and vocals; and Terry Hill on bass guitar. Leigh says the group will play selections from Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington, Diana Krall, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett , Elvis, “and a little Lady Antebellum thrown in.”
