Toddler dies after being left in hot car

Sarasota, Florida -- A 2-year-old girl died after she was left inside a hot car, and now her father is facing manslaughter charges.

Sarasota Police detectives say 23-year-old Uriel Hernandez forgot about Alejandra Hernandez in a car for several hours Sunday morning when the temperature outside was between 85 to 95 degrees.

On Instagram, her mother, Valeria Hernandez, says she's "mi mundo" my world. On Facebook, Uriel Hernandez is seen adoring Alejandra. The two shared custody of the little girl.

Four Sarasota men arrested in lawn equipment thefts

Four men are facing charges after the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said they stole thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment from home improvement stores to help pay for narcotics.

The sheriff monitored the residents of 3721 Stokes Ave. in Sarasota during a joint investigation with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Deputies then watched the men visit multiple Lowe's and Home Depot stores in Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee counties.

Storm HQ could collapse in a hurricane

UPDATE: Missing Sarasota woman found

Sarasota, Florida -- UPDATE: The Silver Alert for a missing Sarasota woman has been canceled. Sarasota Police say Ahlonda Baker was found safe around 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the hospital.

Gunshot heard in home while serving eviction notice

Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota Sheriff's deputies investigating a shooting at a home on Frazier Pine Boulevard Thursday morning say once they got inside the home they found a person inside dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies say they heard a gunshot inside the home while attempting to serve an eviction notice.

The person's identity has not been released at this time. No one else was in the home at the time.

The incident is still under investigation.
